Cyanoacrylate Fuming
The fumes from the superglue, or in other words the cyanoacrylate, harden around fingerprints and preserve them.

WORK IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA!

First, put on: Goggles, Gloves, and an Apron/Lab Coat. Tie back long hair.

Materials:

  1. 1 Plastic Cup
  2. 1 Tube of Superglue
  3. 1 Glass Slide
  4. 1 Candle Warmer

Procedure:
  1. Get all materials ready.(see fig.1)
  2. With your thumb, rub the side of your nose or behind your ear to pick up oil. (see fig.2)
  3. Place your finger on the glass slide, leaving your fingerprint there. Do not forget to put your glove back on afterward. (see fig.3)

     4.Place a drop of superglue on the edge of the glass slide. (see fig.4)
        NOT ON THE FINGERPRINT!
     5.Place the glass slide on the candle warmer.(see fig.5)
     6.Place the plastic cup over the glass slide and candle warmer.(see fig.6)
     7.Turn on the candle warmer.
     8.Run the candle warmer for 10-15 minutes.

    9. Watch the fumes from the
          super glue. It will begin to
          cover the fingerprint.(see fig.7)

    10. Turn off candle warmer when
          the fumes have covered the
          fingerprint.

    11. The fingerprint will have a
          white/fogged appearance and
          will be  able to withstand
          handling.(see fig.8)
